Head of Finance (Group Financial Controller)
Our client is a Bursa Malaysia-listed group with two related listed companies: a precision manufacturing business and an engineering services business. The long-serving finance head is retiring, and the company is looking for a successor to lead finance across both companies, with a proper handover.
The business has been through a turnaround, is now stable, and is focused on strengthening its finance foundations rather than chasing growth. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys fixing things.
What you’ll do
- Lead finance for both listed companies and their subsidiaries, with a team of 3–4 accountants per company.
- Own the full set of accounts, consolidation, statutory reporting and tax for both groups.
- Prepare quarterly results and annual financial statements in line with MFRS and Bursa Listing Requirements, and work with the auditors, company secretary and Audit Committee.
- Improve product costing and work-in-progress valuation across multi-stage production, including consigned materials.
- Lead the selection and rollout of a new ERP that connects finance with production, purchasing and operations.
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships and working-capital controls.
- Report to the Executive Director and the Board, and work closely with operations on site.
What you’ll bring
- Professional qualification: CA (MIA), ACCA, CPA or equivalent.
- At least 10 years in finance, including several years leading a finance team.
- Manufacturing finance experience, particularly cost accounting, inventory and WIP. Exposure to construction or engineering revenue recognition is a plus.
- Experience preparing Bursa quarterly reports or working in a listed company is strongly preferred.
- ERP implementation or system migration experience.
- A practical, curious approach and comfort working on the factory floor.
Why this role
- Head of Finance title across two listed companies, a real step up from a Finance Manager or Group Accountant role.
- A reverse commute away from KL traffic, with 8am–5pm hours, five days a week.
- A clear, meaningful project to own: costing and systems.
- A stable, experienced team and a handover from the retiring incumbent.
